Webb at 27 months

I believe it's been a while since I've done a Webb update so I thought I'd write a few things tonight about what he's up to at 27 months. I guess in a few months I can say I have a two and half year old! Crazy how the time flies.

Eats: almonds, bananas, goldfish, feta cheese, rice and gravy, strawberries, bean soup, salad, pizza, chicken bites (way better than the nuggets), avocado, apples, blueberries, oatmeal. Will very rarely eat sweets. Still loves that milk.

Wears: Size 7 shoe, 2T clothes. Size 5 diaper. Which leads to  . . .

Pottytraining: Not yet. He has absolutely no interest although we talk about it, ask him if he wants to go, and have his little potty out in the bathroom. This summer we will tackle this when I'm home and he's not all bundled up all the time.

Loves to play with: trucks. Trucks. For the past week, he has carried two trucks- one in each hand- everywhere we've gone. He is sleeping with Scoop and Lofty every night. I can hear them clanking together right now. Once he's sound asleep I go move them unless he has them in a death grip. He also loves trains, tools, and playing outside.

Learning/Talking: He can count to 12 and then he says 14, 16, 18, 19, 20. Not bad! He can say his ABC's and knows his colors and most shapes. He talks in complete sentences. Today as he was helping me wash dishes, I told him I was proud of his hard work. He said, "Yeah, Mommy's impressed." Ha! He's always talking to his trucks- telling them not worry about it, he'll say something is "probably in there" or he'll talk about what's up in the "big air" (the sky). The other night he found a teeny tiny spider on the wall and had a full conversation with it. He also talks about himself a lot. "Webb's working hard" "Webb doesn't like the dark" or "Webb doesn't have any more." I love talking with him and listening to the funny things he says. I have got to start writing more of it down!

Reading: Every night, we read the same books: Big Red Barn, The Night is Singing, Goodnight Goodnight, Construction Site, Cars and Trucks and Things that Go, On the Night You Were Born. He knows every word to every book and can finish the sentences when we leave the words off. I guess so after reading them every.single.night. :)

We are most proud of our sweet boy and are doing all we can to raise him to be respectful and responsible. Some days, my patience is thin, and his occassional meltdowns make me feel like I'm doing it wrong, but I realize I'm not perfect, he isn't either, and as long and Chris and I are consistent, firm, and loving, we're doing the best we can!

  1. So enjoyed this update! Our Littles could be brothas from anotha motha, FOR REAL! They are doing almost the exact same things! Your last paragraph was very encouraging to me because I feel the same way sometimes. But you're right -- as long as mommy & daddy are a team (that calls on God often for guidance and strength :), it will be a win for sure!
