5 months old!

Well, little man, you are now a 5 month old! I am continually amazed at how much you grow and change from day to day. Here are some things you've been up to lately:

You are officially mobile! You roll onto your tummy and army crawl to get a toy. This weekend, we put you at the foot of the bed and you slowly crawled your way to the top where we were laying.

You are grabbing things out of my hands! When I give you a bath, we must have two wash clothes on hand. When I pick up one, you take it, so I get the other one, and you take it, so I get the other one, well, you see the cycle here. You love taking the wash cloth and sucking the water out of it. You love when I pour water on you. You reach and grab for it. I love watching your little hands try to get all coordinated. You are also grabbing things off the table when you sit on our laps. Got to keep a close eye on what's in reach! You have also starting grabbing faces, glasses, lips, ears, etc. of anyone holding you.

You have also found your feet! I'm just waiting on those to make it into your mouth!

I can't believe how quickly we've gone from this . . . .

to this!

Happy 5 months, Punker!

Your first Easter!

Dear Little,
I have never worried about you so much in my life. You got your first dose of illness over the Easter weekend. In fact, we all had runny noses, sneezes, and coughs. I took you to the doctor and they gave you some meds and I'm hoping you're now on the mend. Even though you still felt badly, you were precious and happy most of the weekend. Easter Sunday was a lot for you. We dressed you in the outfit that your Mimi and Pawpaw bought for you in Italy last summer. You looked absolutely adorable. We went to church as did your Aunt and Baby Cat. You did wonderfully during the service. We were able to snap a few pictures before we left. After church, we went to Mimi's and you were passed around to each family member before you told us "Enough is enough!" and went down for a long nap. You were tired when we got home so we gave you a nice warm bath and put you down earlier than usual. Tomorrow you will officially be a 5 month old. I will write about that then. In the words of my great-great grandmother, "I love you, I love you, I do." Happy Easter, Punker.

We gotta work on daddy being ready for the picture! He gets a pass though with that bow tie on!

Your Mimi made a bunny cake just for you. It's the same one that Chris' grandmother made for him when he was a Little!

Healing

This weekend we headed to our home away from home, Oak Island, for some rest and relaxation. After everything that has gone on, we all needed some time to calm down and take time for ourselves. You were so good the whole weekend and did well traveling! Between me, dad, and your aunt, you were loved on, kissed on, and held practically every minute of our trip. We took a long walk on the beach, played inside, read books, rocked on the front porch, slept, and ate in. It was wonderful. We talked a lot about your Pawpaw and how we wished he could have gone. You slept in his room. He would have loved having you as a room mate. We talked about how he always kept the beach house stocked with plenty of toilet paper, oatmeal, and bars of soap. We talked about how he would eat oysters and read all day long. We missed him and thought about him a lot. He was there in spirit. I felt him. He was looking down on us and was happy that we were together, laughing, telling stories, debating issues, and taking a stand for things we believe in. He would be so proud to know that you were a big boy and loved the 'beachy' as he would say. It was a perfect weekend.

Four Month Well Visit

Today we took you for your 4 month well visit with Dr. Kelly. She was surprised to see how much you'd grown and just about ate your face off when she saw those chubby cheeks. You are in the 75th percentile in weight, length, and head circumference. You are weighing in at 16.2 lbs! She approved of us giving you little tastes of yogurt and banana and suggested we also do some sweet potatoes and carrots. She checked you out all over and said you were perfect (which we already knew!). You had three vaccines today and screamed so hard that I was waiting for you to take a breath. You almost had little tears in your eyes. I started crying too because I know it hurt you so badly. I used to think people were crazy for crying when their children were hurt or had to get a shot, but when it's YOUR child, you feel that pain too. You calmed down when we got in the car and slept for the ride home. We came home and ate (again) and we played some. You had a long bath and had fun kicking in the water. We have a new trick after diaper change that you love! I stand you up and you look at yourself in the mirror. You smile and talk and get all excited. It is precious. After we got you all powered up and dressed, we snuggled up with your bottle. I read you a bed time story and you were out like a light. As tired as I am from every thing that has been going on, you keep me going and you keep me smiling. I love taking care of you and knowing that you're all snuggled up, fresh and clean, in your bed. You were a good Little today and I'm proud that you're growing and thriving as you should be. Here are some recent pictures of you.

Growing boy!

Hello my Little! It's been a while since I've written here. Your Pawpaw passed away last Thursday and we've been very busy dealing with that. I will write about that later.

You are growing and changing so quickly that I sometimes feel like I want to freeze time so you'll stay this age forever. You have become such a happy Little. You laugh and kick when you see me or daddy or your grandparents. You coo and babble constantly and laugh just to laugh! Your personality shines through and has brought so much joy into our lives especially during these last few days. You love to play peek-a-boo and hold your toys. You have even started holding your plastic bottles at Mimi's house! She still has to help you out, but as soon as you see that bottle coming, your little hands go up and push it towards your mouth. You have eaten little bits of plain yogurt. This morning we tried a little zucchini from last year's garden that we had frozen. You seemed indifferent but you didn't scream so maybe we're making progress! You love when I sing to you or play with your feet. You absolutely love the mobile on your crib and get so excited when I turn it on. You have started kicking and splashing during bath time which is hilarious. You are falling asleep on your own without my having to rock you. You sometimes cry for about 30 seconds, then roll over and zonk right out! The latest and most exciting milestone is that you are rolling over back and forth constantly! You're like a little pancake! Once you get on your tummy, you start doing an army crawl to scoot! This afternoon, you rolled over onto the hardwood floors and were just chillin'! These last few mornings when daddy has put you on your changing pad in the pack-n-play, we've looked over and seen that you've rolled over and have one leg or arm over the side! YIKES! I can tell you're going to be into everything and keep us on our toes! We love you, Little and enjoy watching you learn and grow with each new day.

We're heading to OKI next weekend for your first trip. Baby Cat and Head are going and maybe even your Mams. I can't wait to put your little toes in the sand.

Your aunt loves you so much!
