Christmas 2012

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! Webb is at the age where the lights, the trees, the presents (presidents as he calls them) are all so exciting for him. He was very into saying that Santa comes down the "chimdy" and that Santa was going to bring him trucks and trains. Which of course, he did. We also talked about Jesus' birth. He has a little nativity scene in his room and we named the people and talked about it. I look forward to teaching him more about our Savior's birth the older he gets.

Christmas Eve was special because Nancy spent the night. We had a nice brunch that afternoon and then spent the afternoon and evening playing and listening to Christmas music. Webb and Nancy started a crazy game of run-the-trucks-around-the-house which lasted a good hour. We were all sweating from trying to keep up with him.

Nice eyeballs, Daddy!

In my next life, I'm going to have arms like Head's.

Before bed, we read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" all snuggled up in our jammies. Webb was precious as always.

Santa came and brought mommy and daddy a relaxing morning as Webb slept until almost 8! We got up and Webb saw his new train set which we couldn't pull him away from. This boy loves his trains!

Future doctor?

Future farmer?

Taking a break on his new bean bag. Gotta love his new rain boots too!

Christmas at Mimi and Pawpaw's brought a new digger and some money for higher education. The best gift of all, in my opinion.

This past weekend, we went to the NCMusic Fest uptown. It was great for our little town and brought people from all over- and of all different ages! Chris especially loves live music so we got a sitter both nights and had so much fun! Here are some pics when we took Webb to hear the music!

We have had such fun being together as a family. We've snuggled a lot, played a lot, and just enjoyed family and friends.

Christmas in our new house was so special. Many memories were made.

I hope you all had a great Christmas too!

Birthdays, Christmas, Running, Sheep and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

What a wonderful long weekend this has been! Friday, I took the day off to be with my Little. We made some cookies, snuggled in our pjs, ran some errands and both took 2.5 hour naps. My phone rang around 3 and it was Carrie saying that her birthday girl, Ruby wanted to play at the park and asked if we could come play. So we did and then one thing led to another and we ended up having Ruby's little party here at our house! We had pizza and cupcakes and even a little Minnie tiara for her. My child was asleep 10 minutes after they left and as I was wiping up the cupcake crumbs from the dining room table, it made my heart happy that friends were here celebrating and watching our children play and have fun. It was a perfect day all around!

On Saturday, I did some serious Christmas shopping and then went for a run. I've been wanting to start back but juuuuust couldn't take that step. I ran about a mile yesterday by myself and then about 1.5 today with my dear friend and I felt so good afterwards. You kinda forget about the running when you're deep in good conversation! :) Then last night we went and got Webb's new big-boy bed. It's bittersweet but definitely time. That little monkey can climb in and out in about a second flat. Chris mentioned painting it (it was mine when I was little and could stand a little love) and Webb said he wanted it orange. I'm hoping he changes his mind for green or something. But if he insists, orange it will be.

On Sunday, we stayed in and watched movies and just did things around the house. Someone had a 3.5 hour nap so I went running and did school work. Tonight was the church's Children's Christmas play where Webb was a sheep. He was way too interested in a little truck but luckily it kept him occupied and calm most of the time. After the big children would sing, he'd yell out "YAY" and clap his hands. Lord help me. It was precious. Let me just interject right here that a two year old little boy can certainly give you a run for your money. He is forming his own opinions about things and will close his eyes, shake his head, and say "NO" if he's not having it. He is so into trucks and loud noises, jumping, banging, slamming, clanging, stomping, yelling, and running. Dear Lord, he'd give Usain Bolt a run for his money. At the same time, he can be the sweetest, most loving little soul. He has me wrapped around his little finger and I wouldn't trade it for the world. So he was a sheep, he did a great job, and was super tired tonight when we got home as are we!

I'm definitely looking forward to a fun and short work week. I am however dreading the conversations about the CT shootings. I hope I can find the right words.

Hope you all have a great week!

No Words

Today there are no words. No words to describe in the insurmountable devastion in the small town of Newtown, CT. As an elementary school teacher and parent of a little one, my heart is absolutely broken for the people in this small town. I'm sure tonight we are all hugging our children a little closer. I know I sure am. May God bless the families tonight as they try to start sorting through this horrible mess.

Crazy Monday

Today was quite the day for Little Webb. This morning started with his two year doctor's visit where he got two shots (one finger prick, one flu), was prodded and messed with, and was given a steroid, an antibiotic, and more rounds of breathing treatments! I felt so bad for my love but it was all necessary to keep him healthy. After she pricked his finger and cleaned him up (she had blood all over her hands and his), he got down from my lap, went over to the door, and said "Webb's ready to go." Ha! Smart Punka.  Little did he know that another shot awaited him and lots of listening with the stethoscope. Webb has had a cough since we got back from Bermuda. We just thought it was allergies and/or sinus drainage and since they won't "treat" a cough, I kinda let it go. Just recently had it gotten worse sounding and was more prominent at night. I made the call to do a breathing treatment and after she listened to him this morning, she said he was definitely wheezy. It felt like a "good call mama cause you listened to the mama voice (and daddy voice) telling you to DO SOMETHING!" She said he is progressing as he should be and otherwise looked fine. She was impressed with his complete sentences too. :) It all ended with a few Thomas stickers and a nice cup of cold milk and we were done!

This afternoon, we had our last music class, pizza with the Ingram's and Sink's and then went to the Christmas parade. I have to tell you that I got a little choked up tonight. Watching the reflection of the twinkling lights in Webb's eyes just made me so so happy. I love the wonder and excitement of the Christmas season and sharing that with a sweet two year old boy is complete perfection. The Christmas parade reminds me of being little and how I couldn't wait to walk uptown to our spot at the old library. Chris and I sipped coffee and watched the parade too. I was a darn good ending to a crazy day!

Here is a video from the other day. You'd never know he was a sick baby! And apparently wearing diapers on your head is the new trend.
