Random Friday Thoughts

There is no rhyme or reason to this. I'm too tired but have a lot on my mind. Here goes:

1. It's been a crazy busy week. It's been a crazy month. We are two days shy of living with my mom for a month. Tonight is our last night here and tomorrow evening, we'll be snuggled into our new home. I will be one happy mama.

2. This is the summer "I Never Got Dressed." No, I didn't run around nekkid, I've just spent the majority of my time in workout clothes with no makeup and my hair pulled up. I can't even remember the last time I wore makeup. Oh, and I need a pedicure.
.
3. My new house is my dream house. I have always wanted an old house with lots of character and charm in a neighborhood where sweet old ladies will love my baby as their own and other mothers and I can drink wine on our porches. Where at the holidays we can walk around delivering gifts to our neighbors and visit with friends. A place where the hardwood floors creak and the glass in the windows is a bit wavey. A place Chris and I can raise Littles into adulthood. I am beyond thankful to finally be in my dream house.

4. I am thankful for dear friends who volunteer to babysit so I can meet the worker dude. It's even better when your Little comes home in a pink pullup and a giant tee shirt because he had a leaky diaper. That's when you know you have a real friend who loves your Little like your own.

5. Haircut. I've been thinking about cutting this mop OFF. My hair is too flat and blah to be long. I just need to do it.

6. Running. I've been running a little lately and it has helped relieve stress. It's felt good to get out and clear my head.

7. I found an antique chest of drawers this week and it looks perfect in my living room. Score for a good find.

8. I am getting excited about the start of a new school year.

9. Decorating. I have bought so many decorating mags lately. I think this is going to turn into a major hobby. I love finding good pieces and accessorizing with pictures and knick-knacks. I'm ready for rainy day projects and lots of house shopping.

10. I'm excited about a meet-and-greet being hosted for us next weekend by one of our neighbors. It'll be nice to get dressed like a normal person and go out for the evening. Even better that we can walk home.

11. This sweet boy is talking all day long. Lately, he's been saying . . .
Big ole pruck
Peace out
Crazy baby, busy baby, silly baby
Sit down
Love powk (park)
Promeese (promise)
Go down, go up
Runner sizes (Runner exercises)
Gigger (Digger) pick dirt
Hop on Pop
Big ole pruck . . . . suck (stuck) . . . . dirt
Firemean (firemen)
Big ole work pruck
Baby pool
Gwasses (Glasses)
Milk pwease (please)

Do you see a theme here? I think we'll do trucks for his second birthday!

Here we are the other day at the park:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

About Me

This cute survey has been going around so here it goes....

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I started blogging in 2010, I believe. I actually think I started a blog somewhere else long ago but it's out in cyberspace now. I started blogging because I love to write and I love to document. I also love photography and while I'm just an amateur, I try to capture good pictures of my family or things I see when I'm out and about so I share them here. Once Webb came along, my posts were all about him so really it's evolved into a baby book of sorts. It's crazy to read back to last summer and look at how much he's changed. I don't have a large following and that's ok. I know there are friends and family who check in here to see what our life is like.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
For undergrad, I attended Meredith College and UNCG. I graduated from UNCG with a degree in Elementary Education. Several years later, I went back to school for a Master's in Elementary Ed. with additional reading licensure.

3. Where have you traveled?
I have been to several states close by for mission work, Florida, Puerto Rico, Cancun, Aruba, US Virgin Islands, Germany, and France.
4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
I would buy a few, just a few, pairs of shoes. Just to be very honest with you. I would then stash a bunch back for Webb. Then I'd go shopping again. :)

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
Dirty Feet
Being late
People who don't write thank you notes. Mama always said write a thank you note.

6. What is your favorite movie?
So hard to decide! I love August Rush, The Notebook, Dead Poet's Society, and Steel Magnolias.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
I love Corona Light. Sweet tea next please!

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Go shopping or get a pedicure.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Right now, probably Wisteria or Ballard Designs. I'm in total decoration mode for my new home and have so many ideas that could use that kind of funding!

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
Oh, there are many, many embarrassing moments. How about the time I put my raincoat on to go talk to the landscaper working in our yard and as I was walking, I felt something on my coat. I looked down and a pair of my underwear were stuck to the velcro on the front. Or the time my sister and I were eating at Sweet Potatoes in Winston and we were in the bathroom acting like fools (laughing loudly and talking silly) and when we came out, the whole kitchen staff was staring at us. I'm sure they were wondering what we were up to.

11. What day would you love to relive again?
The day my father died. We had been waiting most of the day for it to happen and when it got late, we decided to come home and get Webb to bed and try to rest for what we thought would be another long day of waiting. We had just gotten in bed around midnight when my phone rang. I will always regret not staying that night.

 12. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
I was a lifeguard through high school and then waitressed one summer between high school and college. During college, I worked at my dad's law office.

14. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
I would go to Tahiti and stay in one of these huts. Maybe one day!

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.

My brown-eyed blessings. I love these two so so much!

17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
In five years, I hope to be a mother of two Littles! I hope to do some traveling as family- maybe to Disney, Glacier National Park, Washington, D.C., New York, and Chicago. I've also always wanted to spend a summer in Maine.

Park, Pool, Playdates and A Big Ole Pruck

This week has been super fun and less busy than the last few weeks. Webb and I have done a lot of playing, walking, climbing, and swimming! Monday he went to his sitters while I had lunch with a friend, ran errands, and unpacked us from the beach. Tuesday brought a playdate with the Ingrams to the park and then we met up with them and the Shives later that day for pool time. Let's just say a lot of swimming took place as did consumption of snacks- namely Doritoes! I think our whole pool tab is nearly drained from buying so many bags every time we go. It's cool though cause the Little loves them. Wednesday, we went to story time (with the Ingrams, love those Ingrams) and then after nap time, we went to the park to swing. We also took some time to visit our local firestation so Webb could sit in the "big ole fire pruck." Those are his exact words. Let's just say he loved it. As I was putting him to bed that night, I rubbed his head and he looked up at me and said "big ole fire pruck." I knew that little outing made his day. Made this mama smile. Here are some pictures from our week in collage style!

Hope everyone is staying cool. Scott and Carrie, house post coming soon!

Beach and a Playdate

I could live at the beach. Seriously, it's my favorite place on Earth- especially Oak Island. I had the pleasure of taking a little mini vacation with my sister, her boyfriend, and Webb this weekend and boy did we have fun! The weather was perfect and Webb loved the beach. But not at first. He wouldn't let go of me the first afternoon. I could barely get him to put his feet in the water. So he sat on my lap and we talked about the touching the sand, the water, and the seashells. The next afternoon, a little kid near us on the beach had a truck he was playing with and Webb immediately went for it and didn't look back. After a quick trip to the Eagles beach store, he was well stocked with trucks, shovels, buckets, and even a lawnmower. Here are a few pictures from the trip. Chris didn't go because he was supervising the work going on at our house. We're hoping to start moving this weekend!

Out to dinner at Shagger Jacks!

We also had a little playdate last week with our good buddies Will and Liza. Webb and Will are three months apart and are too cute together.

Hope you all have a great week!

The House

Several friends from near and far have asked about the house so I thought I'd do a little update here.

Here is a picture of the house taken from my phone about a month ago.

Since we closed, we have had people over there all week getting the work done so we can move in ASAP. We are living with my mom right now and so far, it's been great! Chris and his contractor-brain have had people lined up for weeks begin the work. Here's a little breakdown of what's happening over the next few weeks!

Total kitchen gut and remodel- the kitchen was dated and not functional.
Paint up/downstairs
Rip up carpets to finish original hardwoods underneath, which are in amazing shape!
Tree service cut down pine trees in front and overgrown brush/trees in back
Fencing will be installed next week
New heating/air unit to replace old one
Roofers come next week to put new roof on house and garage
Landscaper to work on yard
