Christmas 2012

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! Webb is at the age where the lights, the trees, the presents (presidents as he calls them) are all so exciting for him. He was very into saying that Santa comes down the "chimdy" and that Santa was going to bring him trucks and trains. Which of course, he did. We also talked about Jesus' birth. He has a little nativity scene in his room and we named the people and talked about it. I look forward to teaching him more about our Savior's birth the older he gets.

Christmas Eve was special because Nancy spent the night. We had a nice brunch that afternoon and then spent the afternoon and evening playing and listening to Christmas music. Webb and Nancy started a crazy game of run-the-trucks-around-the-house which lasted a good hour. We were all sweating from trying to keep up with him.

Nice eyeballs, Daddy!

In my next life, I'm going to have arms like Head's.

Before bed, we read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" all snuggled up in our jammies. Webb was precious as always.

Santa came and brought mommy and daddy a relaxing morning as Webb slept until almost 8! We got up and Webb saw his new train set which we couldn't pull him away from. This boy loves his trains!

Future doctor?

Future farmer?

Taking a break on his new bean bag. Gotta love his new rain boots too!

Christmas at Mimi and Pawpaw's brought a new digger and some money for higher education. The best gift of all, in my opinion.

This past weekend, we went to the NCMusic Fest uptown. It was great for our little town and brought people from all over- and of all different ages! Chris especially loves live music so we got a sitter both nights and had so much fun! Here are some pics when we took Webb to hear the music!

We have had such fun being together as a family. We've snuggled a lot, played a lot, and just enjoyed family and friends.

Christmas in our new house was so special. Many memories were made.

I hope you all had a great Christmas too!

Birthdays, Christmas, Running, Sheep and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

What a wonderful long weekend this has been! Friday, I took the day off to be with my Little. We made some cookies, snuggled in our pjs, ran some errands and both took 2.5 hour naps. My phone rang around 3 and it was Carrie saying that her birthday girl, Ruby wanted to play at the park and asked if we could come play. So we did and then one thing led to another and we ended up having Ruby's little party here at our house! We had pizza and cupcakes and even a little Minnie tiara for her. My child was asleep 10 minutes after they left and as I was wiping up the cupcake crumbs from the dining room table, it made my heart happy that friends were here celebrating and watching our children play and have fun. It was a perfect day all around!

On Saturday, I did some serious Christmas shopping and then went for a run. I've been wanting to start back but juuuuust couldn't take that step. I ran about a mile yesterday by myself and then about 1.5 today with my dear friend and I felt so good afterwards. You kinda forget about the running when you're deep in good conversation! :) Then last night we went and got Webb's new big-boy bed. It's bittersweet but definitely time. That little monkey can climb in and out in about a second flat. Chris mentioned painting it (it was mine when I was little and could stand a little love) and Webb said he wanted it orange. I'm hoping he changes his mind for green or something. But if he insists, orange it will be.

On Sunday, we stayed in and watched movies and just did things around the house. Someone had a 3.5 hour nap so I went running and did school work. Tonight was the church's Children's Christmas play where Webb was a sheep. He was way too interested in a little truck but luckily it kept him occupied and calm most of the time. After the big children would sing, he'd yell out "YAY" and clap his hands. Lord help me. It was precious. Let me just interject right here that a two year old little boy can certainly give you a run for your money. He is forming his own opinions about things and will close his eyes, shake his head, and say "NO" if he's not having it. He is so into trucks and loud noises, jumping, banging, slamming, clanging, stomping, yelling, and running. Dear Lord, he'd give Usain Bolt a run for his money. At the same time, he can be the sweetest, most loving little soul. He has me wrapped around his little finger and I wouldn't trade it for the world. So he was a sheep, he did a great job, and was super tired tonight when we got home as are we!

I'm definitely looking forward to a fun and short work week. I am however dreading the conversations about the CT shootings. I hope I can find the right words.

Hope you all have a great week!

No Words

Today there are no words. No words to describe in the insurmountable devastion in the small town of Newtown, CT. As an elementary school teacher and parent of a little one, my heart is absolutely broken for the people in this small town. I'm sure tonight we are all hugging our children a little closer. I know I sure am. May God bless the families tonight as they try to start sorting through this horrible mess.

Crazy Monday

Today was quite the day for Little Webb. This morning started with his two year doctor's visit where he got two shots (one finger prick, one flu), was prodded and messed with, and was given a steroid, an antibiotic, and more rounds of breathing treatments! I felt so bad for my love but it was all necessary to keep him healthy. After she pricked his finger and cleaned him up (she had blood all over her hands and his), he got down from my lap, went over to the door, and said "Webb's ready to go." Ha! Smart Punka.  Little did he know that another shot awaited him and lots of listening with the stethoscope. Webb has had a cough since we got back from Bermuda. We just thought it was allergies and/or sinus drainage and since they won't "treat" a cough, I kinda let it go. Just recently had it gotten worse sounding and was more prominent at night. I made the call to do a breathing treatment and after she listened to him this morning, she said he was definitely wheezy. It felt like a "good call mama cause you listened to the mama voice (and daddy voice) telling you to DO SOMETHING!" She said he is progressing as he should be and otherwise looked fine. She was impressed with his complete sentences too. :) It all ended with a few Thomas stickers and a nice cup of cold milk and we were done!

This afternoon, we had our last music class, pizza with the Ingram's and Sink's and then went to the Christmas parade. I have to tell you that I got a little choked up tonight. Watching the reflection of the twinkling lights in Webb's eyes just made me so so happy. I love the wonder and excitement of the Christmas season and sharing that with a sweet two year old boy is complete perfection. The Christmas parade reminds me of being little and how I couldn't wait to walk uptown to our spot at the old library. Chris and I sipped coffee and watched the parade too. I was a darn good ending to a crazy day!

Here is a video from the other day. You'd never know he was a sick baby! And apparently wearing diapers on your head is the new trend.

Two Years

Dear Webb,

Two years ago today at 8:47 p.m., daddy and I welcomed you into the world. You were the most beautiful baby boy we had ever laid eyes on. You have grown from a helpless baby into a big two year old who is so full of life. You have a contagious energy about you, beaming from the inside out in all you do. Your laughter and squeals now fill our home. There are trucks, trains, and tractors littered throughout the rooms. There are goldfish in the couch cushions and in our car floor boards. You talk so well and listen well most of the time. You love Elmo, The Wiggles, trucks, drawing clocks, drinking milk, and climbing on everything in sight. You want daddy to put you to bed but mommy to get you up in the morning. You love playing Crazy Baby with Nancy and rough housing with daddy. You love reading with Mimi and getting fed icecream by Pawpaw. You love Harry Hat and helping her feed the doggies. You often say to mommy "Let me hold ya" which means you want me to carry you. You can count to ten but then continue with fourteen and sixteen. You can say your ABC's with help. You can say the blessing with a big "Amen" at the end. You help around the house by throwing things away and putting your dishes in the sink. You love playing outside with your lawnmower, digging in the dirt, going to the park, and riding in the buggy on daddy's bike. You enjoy being read to if it's about trucks or diggers. You tell us when you need a diaper change and when you're ready for bed or naptime. You are a picky eater. You love the Ingram's, Larche, Mary Berkley, and Lucas. You love Daisy and Madden and going to Donna's house. You hate getting dressed or not getting milk when you really want it.
You are without a doubt the love of our lives. I can't really explain how much joy you bring to us. We both love you to the moon and back and look forward to watching what you learn between now and your next birthday. If it's anything like what you've learned this past year, we are seriously in for a crazy ride. :)

So here's to our Sweet Wilson Webster. Our beautiful boy on his 2nd Birthday. We love you.

Here are pictures from Webb's "Birthday Fire Truck Party." It was a special day for us to celebrate and loved having our closest friends and family here to help us!

Webb's Mimi made this cake! Not only was it precious, it tasted yummmmmy!

And she made these cupcakes. THANK YOU, Mimi!

Waiting for the party to start!

These two were seriously into "Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site." Ford is a reader folks. :)

Webb and Daisy. The other "love of his life" aside from Carrie Carrie.

I'm still wondering how these firemen knew a special boy was having a birthday firetruck party at his house?!? :) This was the best part by far!

Beautiful RuRu.

Sweet Mimi and Pawpaw with a tricycle for Webb!

Thankfulness

There is so much to be thankful for this year. I couldn't possibly fit it all into one post but here's a short list of things that are so near and dear to me and that I thank God for each night.

My new (old) house.
The laughter that fills our home from a rambunctious two year old.
Celebrating Webb's second birthday.
Chris- the meals he cooks, the bathrooms he cleans, the laundry he folds. The sweet smile on his face and his ability to put up with all of my shenanigans. I am truly blessed.
My sister. My best friend. The smartest and most beautiful person I know.
My mom. Her crazy ways, her love for her grandson, her love for telling me what to do and how to decorate my home. Love you, Muther.
My in-laws. The meals, the babysitting, the patience, the "always there for us" attitude. Love them.
Girlfriends. Who check in, who look after your baby, who really listen. Love them all dearly.
My job. The 18 first graders who fill my heart every day. I am in love with my job.
God. He knows my flaws and knows I'm working on them.

Ever since Webb was born on Thanksgiving two years ago, this time of year always brings back memories of the night of November 25th. A time etched in my mind forever. A night my life was made so much brighter and richer. I am definitely thanking God for this blessing and the many others He has blessed me with!

Webb's Weekend

Our long weekend was low-key and I loved every minute of it! On Saturday, I went to breakfast with a friend and then we headed to Greensboro for a family reunion. Webb of course found the playground the most fun so we spent some time outside enjoying the beautiful weather!

Saturday night, Harry Hat came over for dessert and some Webb time.

And, the hit of the weekend was daddy taking Webb for a ride in his "buggie." We didn't think he'd even entertain the idea of wearing a helmet, but he loves it! He was so big riding in the back of the buggie. They rode all over the neighborhood and saw lots of friends.

He sat so still. It amazed me because that never happens!

We've been talking a lot about Webb's birthday party. He says he's having a "birthday firetruck party" and that he's going to be "three months."

Next weekend is our town's uptown Christmas Open House. I'm excited about beginning the holiday season especially now that Webb is old enough to be excited about so much. Today when we went to Lanier's and he saw the Christmas trees he said "There's Christmas!" I can't wait to hang our stockings, put our tree up, wrap presents, turn the Christmas music on, and deliver gifts around the neighborhood. I know it's a ways away but it'll be here before we know it!

Bedtime

My favorite time of day is bedtime. Not my bedtime, but Webb's bedtime . . . and not because the house will be quiet and mommy can have a moment, but because there's nothing more precious than snuggling up with a clean, pajama clad Little and talking about the day's events. Every night, Webb talks about his day . . . what he did or saw or what we did at home. We turn his stars on and rock together. It's the perfect ending to the day.

And I only get to experience this IF daddy isn't around to put Webb to bed. Because if he's here, all I hear is "Daddy put ya a bed." Mama is chopped liver sometimes. But seeing your handsome hubby snuggle a clean pajama clad Little totally warms your heart too.

Halloween and All Things In Between!

Well, I'm a little late with a Halloween post but better late than never, right! First, I just want to say that I'll be glad when this election is over. Although a huge Obama supporter, I must say that who ever wins the White House will have my full support. Let's just work together to get this country back on track!

Ok, back to Halloween. We went to a friend's house and had a ton of crazy little ones running around everywhere! It was fun and crazy and just as it should be!

Not the best quality since I forgot my camera, but it sure does capture the sweetness of seven children under the age of 4!

The best I could do. Getting a picture of this kid is near impossible. :)

Reading is tough work. I love
a sleeping Little.

We also had a lady come take some family photos this weekend at the park. Here's a sneak peak. I think they turned out beautifully!

Happy HUMP day (almost) and stay warm!

Driving

Yesterday my Webb wouldn't nap so I decided we'd take a trip to Walmart to pick up a few things. Just as we left the neighborhood, his little eyes got heavy and he was soon fast asleep. I didn't have it in me to wake him up for a trip in to Walmart, so I decided we'd just ride. I stopped and got a sweet tea, opened the sunroof and headed out of town. We drove out to the country close to where we used to live and my goodness, it was absolutely beautiful! The fall colors were simply vibrant. The sunshine was so warm and to have a sleeping baby in the back seat was picture perfect. It's amazing what a little drive will do for the soul. And for a sleeping Little.

Our trip

These last 10 days have been sooooo nice! I am so thankful we had the opportunity to take a big trip. We had an early flight Friday morning so we spent the night in Charlotte Thursday night so we could sleep a little later and then head to the airport. Here is a picture of Webb and I as we were taking off. He did so well sitting in my lap. Thank goodness for the portable DVD player and lots of snacks!

We were able to board the ship that afternoon around noon. Webb napped in the stroller and was WIDE open by the time we got settled in our room!

Webb loved looking out the window. Those are nose drops in his hand. He loves his nose drops. Weird.

And after the baby goes to bed, mommy and daddy start putting a dent in that Sea Pass Card! You know, the kind you just swipe and it's like imaginary play money you never really see. :)

The first day on board, I booked a spa treatment for myself. I decided on the Deep Tissue Massage- an hour of pure bliss. The spa was at the back of the boat. It was so relaxing and so so beautiful. Definitely one of the best moments of the week!

The rest of week, we just played a lot. They had a little Tot program for Webb were he could go play each morning. It was nice that there were other children on board for him to play with. There were a few days Chris and I sat by the pool or in the hot tub. Thanks to Mimi and Pawpaw for allowing us some time alone!

I guess one thing about cruising is that you can't predict the weather. A day or so before reaching Bermuda, the captain informed us of a tropical storm that was nearing. We had to cut our stay in Bermuda by half a day but we still made the most of it and had a great time! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Heading to Hamilton for a day of shopping

Beautiful buildings- The yellow one, Calypso, had the most beautiful shoes!

At a beautiful park we found right in the middle of down town!

At the beach- what Webb talked about the WHOLE time.

One of our many nights out. Not shown: the huge Bahama Mama I was sipping on!

With the expert climber. I have a new respect for ANYONE who climbs. My whole body is sore. Even my fingers. It was hard but my coach cheered me on and I did it!

I've had a lot of people ask how Webb did. He did great. I think if you put any Little on a boat during naptime or bedtime, you'd have no problem getting them to go to sleep. He slept like a little nugget every night and loved his bed they fixed for him. The only difficult part was keeping him from running everywhere! He loves those wide open spaces and a cruise ship is full of them for sure! We are talking about booking another one and maybe this time leaving Little at home. Is that terrible? Nah.

:)
