Congratulations Are in Order
Two very special people in my life have recently been accepted into graduate school and I wanted to take a minute to spot light them for a change. Tonight I am in the presence of my 36 year old husband who has decided to pursue a higher education by starting with the Certificate Program at UNCG in NonProfit Management. If things go as planned, he'll continue on for a Master's in Public Affairs. I can't say how exceedingly proud I am of his unwavering ambition to better himself through learning. He is incredibly bright and talented in so many ways and will offer so much to their program. Most importantly, I know he'll take what he learns to better his community through his work. He supported me through graduate school and now it's my turn to help him get through this. Congrats, sweet Chris. You da man! :)
My sister also found out today that she's been accepted into the Fuqua Business School at Duke University! This was something she set out to achieve a year ago and SHE DID IT! It took a lot of hard work and determination and LOTS of calculus but she did well and will start this summer, I believe. When I found out today, it was one of the happiest moments in a long time . . . no one deserves this more than my sister. She is absolutely one of the smartest, most well-read people I know and will use her talents well. She too will add a lot to the program at Duke and will take away so much new learning. If our daddy were here, he'd be so so excited. He always pushed us to pursue a higher education and now we can say that both daughters have/are accomplishing this! Congrats to you, dear Headly Lamar. I admire you so and wish you the best in your journey.
