Play time and cooling off

We had a very restful and relaxing long weekend here at home. We played, played, napped, played some more, and enjoyed every second of you. You are growing and growing so much. I found you in your crib doing this number . . . .

Peeking out to see who's there! Next step will be pulling up!

Nancy brought you a Sophie and you love chewing on her . . . but not as much as she loves eating your face off!

You crawled

And crawled . . .

And crawled!

My goodness, you're beautiful!

Before going to lunch

Still haven't mastered sitting up, but it's cool.

You loved swinging outside . . .

And working hard at the jumperoo.

Tonight you relaxed . . .

While I gave you a nice cool bath . . .

And you were happy.

Which is really all that matters.

Seven years!

As I've looked over the blog, I see that the titles involve times, months, or special dates in our lives which is precisely the reason I began writing here for you. I wanted you to be able to read bits and pieces of this one day and remember important things in your life and in my and daddy's life. Today, daddy and I celebrate 7 years of marriage to each other! Here is a little history of mommy and daddy.

We started dating at the end of 1999 when dad was at ECU and I was at Meredith. I would go visit on weekends or he would come to Raleigh, pick me up, and we'd drive home. After he graduated and moved home, I transfered to UNCG and began commuting there each day while I lived at home. I was happy with my choice as I loved being near dad and still enjoyed college life. We dated for nearly 4 years before we were married on May 29,2004. We were married at my church, First Presbyterian, surrounded by about 200 family members and friends. It was a beautiful ceremony and I remember fondly walking down the aisle and seeing how handsome daddy looked in his tux. After the ceremony, we danced the night away at our reception and had so much fun with friends. That night, we drove to Charlotte, spent the night, and caught an early flight out for a cruise in the southern carribbean. It was wonderfully fun and exciting! I am so lucky to say that married my best friend!

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Daddy and I love each other very much and have made a happy life together- especially now that you are here.

Happy 6 months!

Today we celebrated your 6 month birthday! Your Mimi fixed her usual Weds. night meal but included a cake and ice cream party for you in honor of your special day. Mams was there too to join in on the fun. You were precious and charming as always. Here are some pictures from our little party!

We enjoyed watching you play and listening to you laugh and talk. It was a fun night for everyone!

Here are some things you're up to these days:

*wearing size 6-12 month clothes (WOW!)
*crawling, reaching, and grabbing for everything in sight
*babbling and cooing a lot
*eating solids (bananas, zuchinni, sweet potatoes, yogurt)
*sleeping through the night about 90% of the time! YES!
*loving your jump-a-roo a little more
*enjoying being read to- you seem to like looking at the pictures and especially love your pop-up book, The Crunching Munching Caterpillar!

You are the precious light of our lives and we love you so very much. I can't wait to wake up each day to see your smiling face and to watch you become your own little person. You have a sparkle in your eyes and such a sweet disposition.

Happy 6 months, Little!

The closer I am to fine

I believe that the joys of motherhood have reigned me in even closer. There in this insatiable hunger to love you to the ends of the Earth and back every minute I'm with you. We had the best weekend here at home. You were precious and sweet; entertaining us and keeping us laughing. Your little personality is shaping up into a delightful package of squeals, laughs, babbles, and this curious determination to explore your world. You are scooting around everywhere and put everything you find in your mouth. You slept well this weekend, taking long naps both days and sleeping through the night (as you did most all week!). This morning was probably the highlight of my weekend- you and I took a long nap together in the big bed. Even though I was sleepy, I must admit that I watched you sleep for a while. Your little lips hanging open, hands curled up tight, breathing softly. All the world just stopped as you slept next to me. It was perfect.

Blogger isn't cooperating tonight, so no pictures for now.

Silly silly

I can already tell. You are going to be a stinker. Your newest trick in addition to the army crawl is to roll over on your changing table while I try to dress you. You hate when I dress you so you roll over and get as close to the wall as you can. Tonight when I tried rolling you back over, you started laughing! You silly thing! You'd do it again as soon as I'd get you back over and you'd laugh some more. When I put you in your crib tonight, I leaned over to kiss your head and you rolled over on your side and you thought that was the funniest thing in the world! Here you are before bed time. Mommy is still learning how to use the settings on her camera. But you get the gist of what's happening here!

Silly, silly.

We read your book before bed as I snuggled up with you.

"Now the moon beams shine upon you and the stars ignite the sky, til you rise, til you rise, the night is singing lullabies."

Love you, Punka!

Our weekend

Here's a really quick post about our weekend! We were busy but it wasn't crazy busy so that's okay! On Saturday, we went to lunch at Village Tavern for J's birthday. He's going to help with your dedication next Sunday and you got to meet him. You were held and loved by everyone and slept the latter part of our meal. Then we went and visited your aunt and swung on her front porch. She ate you up as usual. On Sunday, we went to lunch and then I took you to meet one of mommy's dearest friends and her little 3 month old son, Will. We had a wonderful afternoon visiting.

You were also quite full of yourself this weekend as you started an intense army crawl. It's so funny to watch you drag your whole body forwards using just your arms. You haven't quite gotten the arms and legs coordinated, but you'll figure it out soon, I just know it. You are squealing a lot and biting at your toys once you get them. I love watching you grow and experience this new freedom! Love you, Little!

Two very proud mamas!

Holding sweet Will

Next weekend, we are having you christened. I can't wait to see you in your gown!
